About The Position

The School of Professional Studies is looking for an Assistant Director, Academic Services to manage the administrative activities related to academic services in the Division of Programs in Business that serves about 2200 graduate students. Responsible for the implementation and supervision of strategic communication and outreach related to yield efforts following students’ admission to the graduate programs in the Division to increase enrollment and revenue. Create and implement Student Success Initiatives for the division. Serves as liaison to Admissions Office and Office of Student Affairs regarding the recruitment and conversion, and retention of new students. Provides support to continuing students and serves as the primary contact in advising for student success and retention. Trains new advisors and serves as a mentor to all advisors. Plans and implements student orientations and participates in and makes presentations at recruiting and new student events. Coordinates student activities, workshops, and group advising sessions with academic departments, SPS, and University Offices Supervises office support staff. Advises approximately 250 credit students. This position is currently located in our Midtown Center, 20 W. 43rd Street.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years experience in student advisement and services and working with instructional staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Effective public speaking and group facilitation
  • Knowledge of database applications
  • Familiarity with Peoplesoft

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in higher education administration, student personnel, counseling, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in higher education or advising and counseling
  • Ability to work in a changing educational environment.
  • Able to plan and execute program-related deliverables on time.
  • Strong creative problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment while practicing good customer service skills.
