About The Position

As an Assistant Diesel Mechanic at WM, you will be responsible for maintaining, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of diesel equipment and vehicles. This role involves working in a repair and maintenance shop environment, as well as responding to emergency service calls. You will work with modern tools and procedures to ensure the safety and reliability of a large fleet, including CNG trucks, supporting both local communities and customers across the USA. The position requires a commitment to safety, adherence to standard labor repair times, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Requirements

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Over 18 years of age
Legally eligible to work in the United States
Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical

Nice To Haves

Previous experience as a lube tech or basic mechanics
Having own basic tools
Driver’s License
Able to do 2-week mandatory training in Arizona

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment
Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts
Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs)
Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns
Perform safety checks on vehicles
Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
Assist senior Mechanics in the completion of project work
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
