About The Position

The Assistant Design Lead supports the Design Lead in the execution, integration, release, and continuous improvement of engine systems and subsystems. The position provides technical leadership, mentors designers, leads virtual development activities, and ensures designs meet program requirements, quality standards, manufacturability targets, and GVDP milestones. The role includes mentoring designers in system requirements, GM CAD tools, Teamcenter, and data-management processes; maintaining design criteria, typical sections, standard modeling methods, and virtual integration methods; leading math models, layouts, and design concepts; and integrating components into complete engine systems. The role also leads engineering studies and design reviews, supports program and audit activities, coordinates with cross-functional teams, manages work assignments, and drives process improvements using AI and digital tools. This role is categorized as hybrid. The selected candidate is expected to work onsite at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week, or at another frequency determined by the hiring leader. Travel is less than 25%. The role is not eligible for relocation assistance. General Motors does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this position.
