About The Position

Walt Churchill’s Market is hiring a full-time Assistant Deli Manager in Maumee, Ohio. The role partners with the Deli Manager to lead the Deli and Seafood teams, maintain high food-quality standards, and keep the department fresh and well presented. The Assistant Deli Manager may take charge of the department when the Deli Manager is away.

The schedule primarily consists of day shifts, with occasional closing shifts and required holiday availability. The employee typically has one weekend day off each week. The position starts at $20.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Passion for working with and cooking deli and seafood items.
• Ability to communicate clearly.
• Comfort working with the public, greeting customers, speaking with them, and assisting them.
• Attention to detail and ability to complete duties correctly and on time.
• Leadership, sales, and merchandising skills.
• High school diploma or GED.
• ServSafe/Food Safety Certification, or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift up to 80 pounds.
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, twisting, and walking.

• Department management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee production of fresh cold salads, dips, large-batch soups, smoked meats, grilled and deep-fried foods, and catering orders.
• Check product quality in the Deli and Seafood departments and uphold freshness standards.
• Keep shelves stocked and attractive, and rotate fresh items properly.
• Provide exceptional customer service and lead the team by example.
• Train and educate new deli employees on team goals and expectations.
• Run the department when the Deli Manager is away.
• Monitor team members’ progress and provide helpful feedback.
• Manage costs and inventory with the Deli Manager, including ordering products, tracking shrink, and assisting with quarterly inventory.
• Support sales through merchandising and tracking customer buying trends.
• Create schedules to ensure deli and seafood counters are covered.
• Maintain clean spaces and comply with health, safety, and equipment sanitation standards.
