About The Position

Aimé Leon Dore is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the accounting function and play a key role in strengthening financial operations as the company continues to scale. This position is ideal for someone with a strong accounting foundation who is ready to step into broader responsibility, drive process improvements, and operate with a high level of ownership in a fast-paced, growing business.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of accounting experience, ideally within retail, consumer, or multi-entity environments
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience supporting or leading month-end close processes
  • Exposure to audit processes and internal controls
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership of workstreams

Responsibilities

  • Support and progressively take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting across multiple entities
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Support audit processes, including preparation of schedules and coordination with external auditors
  • Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of cash flow reporting and forecasts to support business operations
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and efficiency
  • Help implement systems and workflows that support a growing, multi-entity business
  • Strengthen documentation and standardization across accounting functions
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, and other teams to ensure accurate financial inputs and reporting
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with leadership
  • Provide visibility into financial performance and key metrics
  • Support and mentor junior accounting staff where applicable
  • Take on increasing leadership responsibility within the accounting function over time
