About The Position

The Assistant Controller supports the accounting and finance functions of the organization by assisting with financial reporting, general ledger management, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls. This role works closely with the Controller and leadership team to ensure accurate financial operations, maintain compliance with accounting standards, and support organizational financial objectives. The position requires strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, financial systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality in handling financial information.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and prepare meaningful financial analyses and reports.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism in all financial matters.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings such as background and motor vehicle record checks.
  • English speaking, reading, and writing preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Relevant industry certifications or licenses preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.
  • Ability to effectively multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and adapt to changing schedules and operational demands.
  • Ability to work overtime, modified schedules, or occasional weekends as business needs require.
  • Work in a typical office environment, sitting at a desk and performing prolonged computer work, with occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Maintain dependable transportation and consistent, reliable attendance to meet customer service and operational needs.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within established company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate in person, by phone, and electronically, including on a tablet, smartphone, and other office technology.
  • Travel as required to support project and operational needs.
  • Perform all work on-site and in person; this is not a remote or hybrid position.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull at least 25 pounds.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without current or future need for employer sponsorship.

  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes preferred.
  • Experience supervising or supporting accounting staff preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing daily accounting operations, including general ledger activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with maintaining and monitoring internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management functions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with audits by preparing schedules, reports, and supporting documentation for internal and external auditors.
  • Monitor financial transactions and investigate discrepancies or variances as needed.
  • Collaborate with department managers to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with company standards.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting efficiency and financial accuracy.
  • Assist with tax reporting, filings, and compliance activities as assigned.
  • Provide guidance and support to accounting staff and assist with training as needed.
  • Communicate financial information clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
