About The Position

The Assistant Controller is a key leadership position within the Accounting Department and supports the Controller in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations. This individual is expected to provide strong leadership and direction to the accounting team while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This is a hands-on position responsible for the monthly close, account reconciliations, journal entry review, internal controls, staff supervision, and audit support.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
CPA certification.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
Multi-company and intercompany accounting experience.
Strong reconciliation, financial reporting, and Excel skills.
ERP accounting-system experience.
Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, motivate, and hold a team accountable.

Nice To Haves

Sage experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close.
Review journal entries for GAAP, accuracy, proper support, and approval.
Review reconciliations and ensure reconciling items are resolved timely.
Reconcile and review intercompany transactions and balances.
Assist with preparation and review of financial statements and consolidated reporting.
Review accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, debt, leases, payroll, and benefit accounts.
Investigate unusual balances and discrepancies.
Supervise and review the work of the accounting team.
Assist with accounts payable, cash management, and general accounting activities, as needed.
Maintain strong internal controls and appropriate supporting documentation.
Assist with annual audits and preparation of audit schedules.
Improve and streamline accounting processes and procedures.
Provide backup support to the Controller.
