About The Position

Balanced Body is hiring! We are seeking a technically skilled and analytical Assistant Controller to join our Accounting team. The responsibilities of the position include recording day to day financial transactions, assisting the Controller with month end closing activities (e.g. bank reconciliations and recurring journal entries), miscellaneous reporting, and general team support where and as needed. To be successful in the position you will be able to meet deadlines, demonstrate great attention to detail and consistency in following processes, and work well in a team environment. The individual we are seeking will be an excellent communicator and be process oriented. You will be working with other Accounting professionals whose focus will be on general accounting responsibilities from A/R, A/P and Payroll to month end closing and financial statement generation and distribution. You should be comfortable in a fluid environment where priorities could shift on occasion. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance;
  • 2-4 years of relevant general ledger accounting experience;
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles;
  • Experience working with accounting software;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Outlook);
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Detail-oriented, organized and analytical, with an ability to juggle multiple tasks;
  • Ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality;

  • Sales tax management a plus

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting and banking records, ledgers and reporting, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements;
  • Participate in month and year-end closing activities, such as preparing bank reconciliations, reconciling current asset and liability account activities, and others as assigned;
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and safeguards over financial transactions;
  • Oversee licensing and registration with various state agencies, including sales tax licenses and compliance reporting;
  • Manage third party accounting support for calculations of sales tax and related returns;
  • Generate and distribute periodic reports for management review;
  • Assist with annual tax return support, compliance documents and employee benefit plan audit support, and others as needed;
  • Act as back-up to other Accounting team members as needed to keep the department running smoothly;
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
