About The Position

New Western is seeking a proactive Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls. The role focuses on consolidating the company’s diverse business units—including Corporate, Field Accounting, Lending, and Title—and applying consistent U.S. GAAP standards across those entities to produce reliable financial results for executive decision-making. The position is based out of the company’s Addison, Texas office in a hybrid capacity and will help evolve its financial operations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Multi-entity experience.
Proficiency with NetSuite or other major ERP systems.
Strong technical knowledge of GAAP.
Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.

CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies, and maintain strong internal controls.
Assist in delivering timely and reliable financial results to support executive decision-making.
Identify and implement process improvements to streamline transaction cycles and reporting workflows.
Serve as a secondary liaison for external auditors, preparing schedules and responses.
Assist with tax return filings and monitor deadlines to ensure regulatory compliance.
Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff, fostering a positive team culture.
