About The Position

A growing, privately held construction company is looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join its accounting leadership team. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building processes, and is looking for potential growth opportunities. Working closely with the CFO, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day accounting operations, support a major ERP transition, strengthen financial controls, and help drive the company's continued growth.

Requirements

3+ years of construction accounting experience with strong full-cycle accounting expertise.
2+ years of leadership or people management experience.
Experience with Vista by Viewpoint strongly preferred (other construction ERP systems will also be considered).
Strong knowledge of job costing, cost coding, financial reporting, and construction accounting best practices.
Advanced Excel skills.
A self-starter who can work independently, communicate effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
Authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle construction accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, purchasing, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end close.
Maintain job cost integrity, cost coding accuracy, and financial data within Vista by Viewpoint, while supporting the company's ERP transition from Sage Intacct.
Review and process purchase orders while ensuring efficient AP/AR workflows.
Partner with the CFO on treasury management, banking relationships, cash flow, and other financial initiatives.
Utilize Vista by Viewpoint and advanced Excel to manage project financials, reporting, and operational efficiency.
Collaborate cross-functionally while serving as the accounting subject matter expert and helping develop scalable accounting processes.
