About The Position

Carolina Waste is hiring an Assistant Controller at Waste Connections, a publicly traded solid waste services company providing non-hazardous waste collection, transfer, disposal, and recycling services in the U.S. and Canada. The role spans the accounting cycle and other aspects of the business, including Operations, Sales, and Customer Service. The Assistant Controller partners with District Managers by learning the business and providing support across its functions. This may include riding along with drivers or sales staff and learning the billing system alongside Customer Service Representatives. The position also supports preparation of monthly financial statements, annual budgets, audits, and system implementations, as well as operational metric calculations. Relocation is required as a condition of employment, and relocation may also be necessary for advancement or promotional opportunities. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Relocation is required as a condition of employment.
Must be a self-starter with initiative to learn and a strong work ethic.
Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel and related accounting business systems.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing monthly financial statements.
Assist in preparing annual budgets.
Assist with audits and system implementations.
Support operations personnel with daily, weekly, and monthly metric calculations.
Learn and work with other business departments, including Operations, Sales, and Customer Service, to support District Managers as a business partner.
