About The Position

The Middle School 2nd Assistant Basketball Coach helps the head coach organize and direct an athletic activity consistent with generally accepted aims of sports in an educational setting. The coach works under the direction of the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Principal and must comply with all District rules and regulations. Performance is evaluated under the Board’s policy on evaluation of extra-curricular personnel.

Requirements

• Pass a Washington State background check.
• Pass a fingerprint check.
• Have a high school diploma or transcripts.
• Comply with all District rules and regulations.
• Have a valid first aid/CPR card.
• Understand the rules and regulations for the sport as presented in the WIAA Handbook and District policy.

Nice To Haves

• Attend clinics and workshops when possible to stay current on sport knowledge, rules, and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in carrying out coaching duties.
• Understand the sport’s rules and regulations as presented in the WIAA Handbook and District policy.
• Keep current on rules, rule changes, sport knowledge, and techniques by attending clinics and workshops when possible.
• Apply discipline in a firm and positive manner within the head coach’s established guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Principal(s).
