Part-Time Assistant Coach
About The Position
Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Part-Time Assistant Coach will work in a support role for the competitive program. Cavalier Aquatics is a highly respected team for its ability to develop national-level swimmers while also providing a fun, educational environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities. On-deck hours are split up amongst the entire staff of part-time coaches. The expected available hours to assist with the year-round competitive program will typically be: Senior Group… 5:30-7:30am (M/Tu/Th/Fr); 5:30-8:00am (W); 6:00-8:30am (Sat) Age Group… 4:00-6:30pm (M/Tu/W/Th); 4:00-5:30pm (Fr). An exact schedule which fits inside those hours will be discussed during the hiring process based on the candidate’s availability.
Requirements
- Coaching member in good standing with USA Swimming and USA Safe Sport compliant. Includes maintenance of all relevant training for USA Swimming member requirements.
- Completion and maintenance of all YMCA Swim Coach Certification Requirements.
- Relevant competitive swim coaching experience and proven ability demonstrate effective coaching skills.
- The ability to lead through communication, healthy motivation, and guide swimmers of all ages.
Responsibilities
- Coaches in a support role alongside lead coaches within the competitive year-round program.
- Provides excellent member service and creates a positive program environment with encouragement, goal setting, and positive reinforcement.
- Leads by example while adhering to YMCA policies and being a role model both on and off the pool deck.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
- Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Adheres to YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
