About The Position

To assist the Head Coach in all facets of the program with emphasis on teaching and mentoring team members relative to sport-specific skills, NCAA II rules and regulations, individual and team development concepts, as well as life skills education. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Head Coach.

Requirements

  • Must demonstrate an understanding the Walsh University Statement of Faith and a commitment to support the Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University in accordance with Ex Corde Ecclesiae and the Catholic intellectual tradition.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the field of volleyball, including playing and coaching.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty.
  • Positive attitude a must.
  • Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, Outlook

Nice To Haves

  • Other significant experience relative to coaching volleyball and/or the administration of an intercollegiate athletics program can be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the head coach in managing and directing the program.
  • Assists the head coach with all aspects of the program including training, practices, player instruction, game preparation, competing and scheduling.
  • Assists in the coordination of travel arrangements.
  • Assists in completion and processing of paperwork as requested.
  • Assists with recruiting including calling prospective student-athletes, evaluating high school and junior college players, and maintaining accurate records and data bases on the NCAA Compliance Assistant program.
  • Works cooperatively with personnel in the athletic department, attends department meetings and activities, and always represents the University in a positive manner when interacting with the community, alumni, coaches, the media and the general public.
  • Responsible for knowing, understanding, and abiding by Walsh University policy and procedure and NCAA II compliance legislation and conference rules.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and the Vice President for Athletics/Athletic Director.
