About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Head Volleyball Coach, the Assistant Coach will serve as a member of the Department of Athletics and be responsible for administration of all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate athletics experience for student-athletes. Must be available nights and weekend hours. Job Description: Essential Functions and Responsibilities: The Assistant coach at Fort Lewis College, an NCAA Division II institution in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, is responsible for assisting all aspects of an athletically competitive volleyball program, including, but not limited to: Organizing and conducting skill instruction, practice, and training schedules Effectively manage relationships with student-athletes, coaches, and the broader campus community Strategize and meet recruiting goals along with all other aspects of the evaluation of prospective student-athletes Provide appropriate leadership in practice and competitive environments Conduct sound fiscal management, and participate in fundraising activities supporting the program Ensure a quality student-athlete experience through community engagement, campus involvement, and competitive achievement Monitor academic and disciplinary standing of student-athletes Establish positive relationships with support staff Assist in planning as well as participate in volleyball camps and clinics Represent the volleyball program as designated by the head coach Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive vehicles per board policy Ability to drive up to 15-passenger van/bus Assist the Athletic Business office as assigned Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive vehicles per board policy

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years experience coaching
  • Experience at the NCAA level
