About The Position

The Assistant Coach or Associate Head Coach position may be offered dependent on candidate’s qualifications and experience. The purpose of this role is to assist the Head Coach in the leadership and management of the Women’s Swim & Dive program and to achieve successful outcomes, including recruiting elite student-athletes, training and coaching with the goal of contending for national and conference championships. The Assistant/Associate Head Coach is critically involved in all aspects of the program, is given specific autonomy, and shares responsibilities with the Head Coach in key areas such as recruiting, practice planning, player training and development, coordination of team play, coaching tactics/strategies, and staff oversight. This role also involves promotion of the team and University, input on scheduling and team travel logistics, fundraising, alumni events, community service, and professional development. The position requires adherence to university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations while supporting the core values of intercollegiate athletics. The role demands consistent exemplification of core values and quality service standards, ethical conduct, and proactive seeking of guidance on applicable laws, rules, or policies. Active participation in assigned education and training programs is expected, along with compliance with all laws, policies, rules, and regulations set forth by governing bodies. Annual approval and reporting of outside activities and income are required. Employees must report knowledge of or reasonable cause to believe a violation has occurred and fully cooperate with any investigation. This position may be a Non-Confidential Employee as defined by University policies on Sex Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Interpersonal Violence, and Stalking, and will be required to report incidents as per policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience as a coach or Student-Athlete in a collegiate athletics or professional program.
  • Provide critical thinking and consultation to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Demonstrated exceptional character traits in integrity and fairness.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Intercollegiate Athletics Core Values.
  • Must possess a class "C" operator's driver's license.
  • Must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence.
  • If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas driver's license within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
  • Responsible Employee, pursuant to Title IX and University policy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in the leadership and management of the Women’s Swim & Dive program.
  • Recruit elite student-athletes.
  • Train and coach student-athletes with the goal of contending for national and conference championships.

  • Share responsibility with the Head Coach in establishing and enforcing team rules.
  • Communicate with sport operations, compliance, sports medicine, sports science, strength and conditioning, nutrition, behavioral health, and academics/student services staff.
  • Represent the Head Coach at meetings, fund-raising functions, and alumni events.
  • Adhere to university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Support the core values of intercollegiate athletics.
  • Act ethically.
  • Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule, or policy.
  • Actively participate in assigned education and training programs.
  • Comply with all laws, policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income annually.
  • Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of laws, policies, rules, or regulations.
  • Fully cooperate with any investigation.
  • Report incidents of prohibited conduct as required by applicable law or University policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
