About The Position

Additional hours will be required to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular on-site hours. Travel is required. An Assistant Coach or Associate Head Coach position may be offered dependent on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The purpose of this role is to assist the Head Coach in the leadership and management of the Women’s Swim & Dive program and to achieve successful outcomes, including recruiting elite student-athletes, training and coaching with the goal of contending for national and conference championships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience as a coach or Student-Athlete in a collegiate athletics or professional program.
  • Ability to provide critical thinking and consultation to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Demonstrated exceptional character traits in integrity and fairness.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Intercollegiate Athletics Core Values.
  • Designated as a Responsible Employee, pursuant to Title IX and University policy, with a duty to promptly report incidents.
  • Possess a class "C" operator's driver's license.
  • Provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence.
  • If not currently a Texas resident, obtain a Texas driver's license within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.

  • Experience coaching NCAA championship-caliber student-athletes.
  • Success in recruiting elite student-athletes.
  • Familiarity with NCAA rules relating to student-athletes and to the recruiting of student-athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in the leadership and management of the Women’s Swim & Dive program.
  • Achieve successful outcomes, including recruiting elite student-athletes, training and coaching with the goal of contending for national and conference championships.
  • Be critically involved in all aspects of the program, with specific autonomy.
  • Share responsibilities with the Head Coach in key areas such as recruiting, practice planning, player training and development, coordination of team play, coaching tactics/strategies, and staff oversight.
  • Promote the team and University.
  • Provide input on scheduling and team travel logistics.
  • Participate in fundraising, alumni events, and community service.
  • Engage in professional development.
  • Share responsibility with the Head Coach in establishment/enforcement of team rules.
  • Communicate with sport operations, compliance, sports medicine, sports science, strength and conditioning, nutrition, behavioral health, and academics/student services staff.
  • May represent the Head Coach at meetings, fund-raising functions, and alumni events.
  • Adhere to university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations while supporting the core values of intercollegiate athletics.
  • Consistently exemplify the core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics.
  • Act ethically.
  • Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to the department/sport program.
  • Actively participate in assigned education and training programs.
  • Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws.
  • Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income.
  • Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR.
  • Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation.
  • Report incidents of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault, interpersonal violence, and stalking to the University’s Title IX Coordinator or Deputy Title IX Coordinator as a Non-Confidential Employee.
  • Other duties as assigned.
