About The Position

Drew University is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable full-time, exempt, Assistant Coach for Men’s and Women’s Swimming. This role requires a strong understanding of swimming techniques and the ability to foster positive support for the Head Coach and the team within the Athletics Department. The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach in all phases of the program, including practice, meet preparation, team management, recruiting, fundraising, and community service. Additionally, the position involves the day-to-day operations of the pool, ensuring cleanliness, adherence to regulations, and coordinating lifeguard scheduling and coverage. The Assistant Coach will also assist external groups utilizing the facility. Drew University is a Phi Beta Kappa liberal arts university located in Madison, New Jersey, close to New York City, offering various undergraduate and graduate programs with a strong emphasis on experiential learning and faculty-student mentorship. Requirements

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (must possess or obtain within 3 months of hire)
  • Certification in first aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer (must possess or obtain within 3 months of hire)
  • Certified Pool Operation (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification (must possess or obtain within 3 months of hire)
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with parents, coaches and team members.
  • Working knowledge of common computer applications.
  • Ability to communicate within the University community as well those outside that community.
  • Provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States if selected for hire.
  • Subject to a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous collegiate playing and/or coaching experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in all phases of the program including, but not limited to practice, and meet for game preparation, team management, recruiting, fundraising, community service.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Director of Athletics.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the pool, including ensuring cleanliness.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable rules and regulations for the pool.
  • Coordinate lifeguard scheduling and pool coverage during hours of operation.
  • Assist with external groups that utilize the facility.
