About The Position

The Assistant Coach, Women's Rowing will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of a Division I program. This includes teaching student-athletes rowing techniques, coordinating team travel, fundraising, game day personnel management, and recruiting. The position also supports the Head Coach in program organization, administration, and promotion. Approximately 60% of the role involves instructing rowing through on-field and classroom training (including video analysis), while 40% is dedicated to recruiting and administrative duties. A commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university.
  • Two years collegiate coaching experience at NCAA Division I level preferred.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Rules and Regulations.
  • Mastery of sport coached.
  • Ability to lead, guide and direct graduate assistants, interns and student-athletes.
  • Willingness to form relationships with constituents and help fundraise.
  • Must be able to physically perform essential job duties or have special accommodations arranged in advance.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of a Division I program.
  • Teach student athletes how to perform rowing.
  • Coordinate team travel arrangements.
  • Assist with fundraising.
  • Manage game day personnel.
  • Assist with recruiting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Administration.
  • Assist in the organization, administration, and promotion of the program.
  • Instruct players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.
  • Assess player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of students.
  • Assist in annual budget preparation.
  • Stay within the amount budgeted for the fiscal year.
  • Ensure all expenditures are pre-approved through appropriate channels.
  • Initiate the process for all travel arrangements and submit reports within 48 hours of return.
  • Assist with the care and maintenance of all equipment/apparel and facilities.
  • Assist with the process to order equipment/apparel.
  • Support all Department of Athletics policies on classroom attendance, study hall, progress reports and enforce disciplinary actions.
  • Follow guidelines established by the Department, University, and the NCAA for fundraising activities.
  • Follow all written procedures and submit required forms and supplemental information in a timely manner in the areas of finance, compliance, fundraising, university scheduling, and other areas as required.
  • Attend and contribute to all Department of Athletics meetings and requested functions.
  • Follow guidelines established by the Department, University, and the NCAA for camp procedures and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA recruiting rules and complete associated paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Initiate phone calls, emails, and visits with prospective student-athletes.
  • Work in conjunction with the recruiting coordinator to execute the recruiting plan for JUW Rowing.
  • Recruit students who will be an asset to the University and Department of Athletics and graduate in a timely manner.
