About The Position

This position is for an Assistant Coach for Volleyball for the 2026-2027 season at Vero Beach High School. The role involves coaching responsibilities within the athletic department. Prospective coaches must complete a series of steps, including obtaining athletic coaching certification from the Florida Department of Education and applying through the district's website. An orientation appointment, including fingerprinting and a workplace screening fee of $118.00, is required after an offer of employment is extended and accepted. Employment cannot begin until orientation is complete and Human Resources provides final clearance.

Requirements

  • Submit an application for an Athletic Coaching Certification with the Florida Department of Education.
  • Apply to become an Athletic Coach through the district's website.
  • Complete orientation, including fingerprinting/workplace screening ($118.00 fee).
  • Obtain a valid Florida Educator's Certificate or a Three-Year or Five-Year Florida Athletic Coaching Certificate.
  • For a Five-Year certificate: complete three semester hours in Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries and the effects and dangers of drug use, three semester hours in coaching theory, three semester hours in theory and practice of coaching a specific sport, a valid CPR certificate from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, and First Aid certification including AED training.
  • Complete fingerprinting (FDLE/FBI) with results no older than one year for the Five-Year certificate.
