(CASUAL) Assistant Coach – Volleyball II

About The Position

Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular Board of Regents (BOR) and Civil Service employees. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Requirements

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in any field and four (4) years/seasons of experience coaching collegiate volleyball; or any equivalent combination of education and/or coaching experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  • Proficient in Google Docs, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior NCAA DII coaching experience.
  • Experience coaching Volleyball at the collegiate level.

Responsibilities

  • Developing a program that will be competitive in the Pacific West Conference.
  • Successfully recruiting and retaining academically and athletically motivated student athletes who will have a positive impact on the program and campus.
  • Planning, scheduling and conducting team practices and workouts.
  • Preparing annual (conference and non-conference) schedules for submission to the Director of Athletics.
  • Managing all aspects of home contests, including coordination of facilities and officials.
  • Organizing clinics and participating in community projects.
  • Making travel arrangements for entire travel party.
  • Work with Associate Athletic Director on flight arrangements by preparing dates, times and number of seats required.
  • Make lodging and rental car reservations.
  • Providing necessary documentation to office staff for the processing of travel requests/completions.
  • Responsible for ordering, keeping inventory and maintenance of uniforms, supplies and equipment.
  • Responsible for field maintenance and field improvement.
  • Responsible for coordinating the program’s fundraising activities and the outreach of alumni.
  • Responsible for completing and submitting all required compliance forms and timely submission of CARA and recruit logs.
  • Know and abide by the rules, regulations and policies of the University of Hawaii, the Athletics Department, the Pacific West Conference and the NCAA.
  • Perform other duties/functions as assigned.
