About The Position

The part-time Assistant Coach for Swimming and Diving is responsible for assisting the Director of Aquatics/Head Swim Coach in implementing and directing all phases of a competitive NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving program at Bentley University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1+ years of coaching experience and/or participation in the sport itself at the varsity level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of innovative and proven coaching strategies and techniques.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and commitment to maintaining a positive team environment.
  • Commitment to student-athlete welfare and NCAA compliance.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and limited overnight travel.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver’s license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley’s insurance carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach with planning, organizing, and conducting daily training sessions for NCAA Division II student-athletes.
  • Lead practices and specialty training groups as assigned.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who can contribute academically and athletically to the Bentley Swimming & Diving program.
  • Maintain regular communication with prospective student-athletes and families through phone calls, email, text messaging, and recruiting databases.
  • Assist with recruiting visits, admissions coordination, and other recruiting-related administrative responsibilities.
  • Support program operations including travel preparation, meet management, roster management, equipment inventory, and other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Monitor student-athlete welfare, academic progress, and adherence to Bentley University, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to all conference and NCAA rules and requirements relevant to the conduct of the intercollegiate program.
  • Run specialty practices when assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Assist with recruiting outreach and relationship building with prospective student-athletes.
  • Assist with administrative projects that support the day-to-day operation of the swimming and diving program.
  • Perform additional coaching and administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
