Assistant Coach, Huskie Women's Hockey
About The Position
The Assistant Coach supports all aspects of the University of Saskatchewan Huskie Women’s Hockey program, working under the direction of the Head Coach. The role contributes directly to the development of elite student‑athletes, the execution of a nationally competitive program, and the pursuit of academic and athletic excellence. This is a high‑volume, high‑visibility role requiring exceptional professionalism, leadership, and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast‑paced environment. The Assistant Coach must build and maintain strong working relationships with coaching staff, student‑athletes, recruits, alumni, and internal/external partners. The role requires evening, weekend, and holiday work, as well as travel throughout the season. The successful candidate must understand the responsibility and public profile associated with representing Huskie Athletics and the University of Saskatchewan.
Requirements
- A four‑year Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post‑secondary institution.
- Previous coaching experience at the junior, professional, or post‑secondary level preferred
- Experience supporting all facets of a high‑performance program
- NCCP certification (or progress toward certification) preferred
- Safe Sport, Safe Contact, Anti-Racism, and Respect in Sport training
- First Aid and CPR/AED certification
- Must have a clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Communication Excellence — Strong verbal and written communication across all mediums
- Relationship Building — Ability to work effectively with colleagues, student‑athletes, alumni, sponsors, and community partners
- Organizational Strength — Ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and operational demands.
- Technical Proficiency — Competence with contemporary computer applications, video editing tools, and game‑film technology
- Professional Conduct — Demonstrated ability to uphold the standards of Huskie Athletics and the University of Saskatchewan

- Post‑secondary playing experience is an asset but not required
Responsibilities
- Support the Head Coach in building on the success and culture of the Huskie Women’s Hockey program
- Assist in designing and executing practice plans aligned with team systems and performance goals
- Conduct individual skill sessions and position‑specific training as directed by the Head Coach
- Collect, analyze, and present scouting information; prepare video breakdowns and game‑plan reports. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and video‑analysis platforms required
- Take a lead role in the coordination, administration, and oversight of the Huskies Prospects program and initiatives
- Support communication and engagement with prospective student‑athletes and their families
- Assist with alumni relations, donor engagement, and fundraising activities
- Support day‑to‑day program operations as assigned by the Head Coach, or CAO
- Work with head coach and coaching staff to serve as a resource to the student-athletes intent on delivering year-round skill development programming to develop highly competitive players
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Chief Athletics Officer
Benefits
- The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $53,091.00 - 82,954.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
