Colby College, a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), competes at the Division III level with 32 intercollegiate sports. The department also manages campus recreation and hosts club and intramural sports. Over one-third of Colby's 2,200 students participate in intercollegiate sports, and nearly three-quarters are involved in fitness and recreation activities. Colby has made significant investments in athletics, boasting a state-of-the-art athletics complex, including the Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center, which serves as a benchmark for Division III institutions. This 350,000 square-foot facility houses numerous sports venues and a strength and fitness center. Additionally, the College features a 70-acre outdoor competition center. Colby's Athletic Department has seen substantial improvement in the Learfield Director's Cup standings since the opening of the new facilities. A distinguishing feature is the Peak Performance Program, integrating sports medicine, strength and conditioning, sports psychology, nutrition, and sports sciences to optimize student well-being and performance. Located in central Maine, Colby offers access to outdoor recreational venues like Belgrade Lakes and Sugarloaf Mountain Resort. The Colby College Department of Athletics is seeking an assistant men’s hockey coach for the period of August 01, 2026, to June 30, 2027. The assistant coach will support the head coach in all aspects of managing a competitive Division III program.
