About The Position

This position involves working with athletes during practices, events, and competitions. The Assistant Coach will assist in holding organizational meetings, assessing skills, assigning positions, and choosing team members. Responsibilities include creating practice and game plans, organizing practice sessions, monitoring athletes, recommending safe techniques, and supervising warm-ups. The coach will instruct athletes on rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques, observe athletes for improvement, and establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior. Additionally, the role involves monitoring academic performance, following procedures for injuries and supplies, developing award policies, participating in special activities, and maintaining various records. The position requires attending staff development meetings and performing other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or administrators.

Requirements

  • Must be a born-again Christian.
  • Must be a credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Bible.
  • Must be able to support and comply with the school’s Statement of Faith and Christian Conduct.
  • Must be a member of an evangelical, Bible-believing church.
  • Must have sufficient health and physical endurance to be able to complete the assigned responsibilities.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
  • Must have good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to work well independently, manage time well, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Should have previous coaching experience at middle school or higher level.
  • Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
  • Self-motivation, creativity, and the ability to deliver constructive criticism.
  • Successful completion of NFHS “Fundamental of Coaching” and “First Aid, Health, & Safety for Coaches” courses.
  • First Aid/CPR Certificate.
  • TB clearance within the last four years.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance.
  • Mandated Reporter Training Course.
  • Sexual Harassment Training Course.
  • Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986: An Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) will be required along with the supporting documents listed on the I-9 form.
  • All employees of United Christian Academy must be professing, born-again Christian in accordance with UC Academy International, Inc.'s religious 501(c)3 bylaws.

Responsibilities

  • Works with athletes during practices, events, and competitions.
  • Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages students to participate.
  • Assess skills and assigns team positions; chooses team members.
  • Creates practice and game plans; organizes practice sessions.
  • Monitors each athlete, recommending safe techniques, and supervising warm-ups.
  • Coaches and instructs athletes, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Observes athletes during events and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times.
  • Works with sponsor to monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
  • Must have current regulations and rules, updates, and be willing to seek advice when necessary.
  • Follows established procedures for supplies and uniforms.
  • Works with Athletic Director and administrative assistant to develop a policy for awards and submits a list of award winners at the end of the season.
  • Participates in special activities including but not limited to Discover Nights, banquets, award nights, and pep rallies.
  • Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
  • Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional development activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or other appropriate administrators.
