About The Position

WSP is currently seeking a Part Time Assistant Construction Materials Testing Lab Technician to support various projects in the Atlanta, GA area. This role involves performing various testing procedures on soils and concrete, both in the lab and in the field. The technician will also be responsible for data analysis, monitoring work procedures, and ensuring compliance with project specifications. Travel within a 2-hour radius of Atlanta is expected. The position requires strong self-leadership, attention to detail, multitasking abilities, and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team. Basic proficiency in technical writing, office software, and technology is necessary. A commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies are essential. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required
0-2 years of related experience on variety of complex projects preferred
Certifications might include a combination of ICC soils, ACI concrete, ICC concrete reinforcing steel, and ICC masonry.
Valid Driver’s License required
Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times
Ability to prepare reports and documentation
Ability to travel and work overtime as needed
Ability to work in variable outside conditions
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Perform lab classification and index property testing of soils
Perform density testing of soils
Sample and test concrete in the field and lab
Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data
Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications
Will travel within and around 2 hours of the city
Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
