About The Position

WSP is currently seeking an Assistant Construction Materials Testing Lab Technician to support various projects in the Atlanta, GA area. The role involves performing lab classification and index property testing of soils, density testing of soils, and sampling and testing concrete in the field and lab. The technician will also perform analysis or calculations to check the accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of testing data, and monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications. Travel within and around 2 hours of the city is expected. The position requires proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. The ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team, is essential. Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools is required. A proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies is necessary. Additional responsibilities may be required based on business needs. Competent interpersonal and communication skills are needed for interacting with others and expressing ideas effectively and professionally to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required
0-2 years of related experience on variety of complex projects preferred
Certifications might include a combination of ICC soils, ACI concrete, ICC concrete reinforcing steel, and ICC masonry.
Valid Driver’s License required
Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times
Ability to prepare reports and documentation
Ability to travel and work overtime as needed
Ability to work in variable outside conditions
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
