About The Position

Houston Fitness Partners, an independently owned Planet Fitness franchisee, is hiring an Assistant Club Manager. Planet Fitness aims to provide a high-quality fitness experience in a welcoming, non-intimidating “Judgment Free Zone.” The role supports the Club Manager with staff leadership, member service, facility operations, reporting, and inventory. The hourly pay rate is $17.65. The employee may be required to work at any Planet Fitness location within the Houston Fitness Partners franchise.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Willingness to become CPR/AED certified before employment and maintain certification while employed.
• Superior customer service skills; fitness-industry experience is preferred.
• Exceptional leadership, diplomacy, and listening skills.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong problem-resolution skills; hardworking, enthusiastic, and energetic.
• Ability to work alone on a third (overnight) shift if overnight staff are unavailable.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk continually during a shift; bending, twisting, and reaching are also required.
• Must perform frequent cleaning and sanitizing and may encounter toxic chemicals.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Planet Fitness work experience is a plus.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
• Customer service experience in the fitness industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing Member Service Representatives, Overnight Member Services Representatives, and Fitness Instructors.
• Lead by example to maintain a welcoming atmosphere and ensure staff provide superior customer service.
• Resolve member concerns fairly and equitably.
• Assist with staff management and support the Club Manager with reporting, inventory, and other assigned duties.
• Help administer and enforce company policies and procedures with staff and members.
• Handle front-desk activities, including answering phones, assisting members, checking members in, signing up new members, conducting tours, and addressing member requests, issues, and questions.
• Ensure the gym opens and closes promptly and follows proper protocols.
• Oversee facility cleanliness and maintenance, including responsibility for the largest daily cleaning section.
• Ensure the safety of employees, members, and club property.
• Identify and communicate equipment repair needs promptly.
• Work at any Planet Fitness location within the Houston Fitness Partners franchise as needed.
