The Assistant Club Manager in Training (AMIT) works closely with the Club Manager to provide leadership and direction within the club and drive club performance, particularly in the departments they directly manage. The role prepares individuals to assume one of three Assistant Club Manager positions: Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience. Trainees receive development and experience aligned to their designated track and ultimately oversee the corresponding departments. The AMIT ensures consistent execution of policies and procedures, positive member service, Grand Opening Look Daily (GOLD) standards, and overall club leadership. The role includes developing talent, leading audit compliance, collaborating with Business Partners, and overseeing onboarding, certification, and training to support food safety and operational excellence. The AMIT also serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed, taking responsibility for club operations, team leadership, and member engagement during assigned shifts. A valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification must be obtained and maintained. Yearly forklift certification may be required. In Florida, the role must obtain a qualifier certification through the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for retail propane oversight; BJ’s covers applicable costs and training. The position requires regular, predictable, full attendance and open shift availability. Job conditions include frequent movement on hard surfaces, occasional bending, pulling, and reaching, regular lifting up to 50 pounds (with assistance for occasional heavier lifting), and possible exposure to temperature extremes, loud noises in perishable areas, and cleaning agents. The stated pay range is $61,500 to $77,000.
