About The Position

The Assistant Cloud Administrator works with HPD Tech’s Cloud Administrator(s) to maintain the infrastructure and functionality of agency cloud environments, including the environment used by Section 8/HAS. The role focuses particularly on the Section 8/HAS Elite published application on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). It includes helping clients install and troubleshoot access to cloud services and supporting continued service functionality and availability in accordance with service-level agreements. The Assistant Cloud Administrator performs day-to-day cloud administration, maintains and updates cloud environments, and troubleshoots issues across cloud administration, AVD instances, and end-user access. The role also involves keeping systems patched and configured while considering cost savings and performance. HPD Tech is the IT division of the Department of Housing Preservation and Development. It uses technology to improve agency productivity and business processes, reduce manual work and costs, and provide decision-makers with accurate information.

Requirements

Ability to manage Azure cloud resources, including virtual machines, scale-sets, storage, storage accounts, virtual networks, databases, and other resources.
Ability to provision cloud resources and maintain cloud environments, including adding servers or databases as needed.
Ability to maintain and upgrade cloud environments and operating systems to support performance and security patch levels.
Ability to examine performance metrics and troubleshoot cloud environment issues to support performance and availability.
Ability to manage cloud security by monitoring access requests and reviewing security logs for suspicious activities.
Ability to monitor system performance against business requirements, identify potential problems, and recommend solutions.
Ability to coordinate with vendors and internal teams to communicate and resolve issues.
Ability to develop new features and functionality for existing systems while maintaining performance standards.
Ability to provide technical support for a cloud computing platform to internal users.
Ability to understand, monitor, and support the Section 8/HAS Elite system in an Azure AVD environment.
Meet the stated Computer Specialist (Software) qualification through one of the listed education and experience pathways, including at least one year of qualifying project-leader or major-contributor experience on a complex project. The posting states that computer operations, technical support, QA, hardware installation, help desk, and end-user experience do not count toward the minimum software-experience requirements.

Responsibilities
