About The Position

The University of Dayton Department of Counselor Education and Human Services is seeking applications for a full-time, 12-month, Assistant Clinical Faculty specializing in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. This position offers the opportunity to engage in the holistic development of future Clinical Mental Health Counselors within an integrative, collaborative, interdisciplinary, and mission-driven environment. The role involves mentoring and teaching highly motivated students. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling faculty teach in a CACREP-accredited M.S.Ed. program and offers opportunities for faculty engagement and growth through teaching, interprofessional collaboration, and curriculum, program, and community outreach development. The position is expected to teach graduate counseling courses, serve as Clinical Experience Coordinator, recruit, advise, and mentor graduate students, serve as co-faculty advisor for Chi Sigma Iota chapters, and provide service to the program, department, university, community, and profession. A commitment to inclusive excellence is also expected. Research is not required but is supported, and the School of Education and Health Sciences offers a pathway for promotion for clinical faculty. Requirements

Completed doctoral program coursework in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program with anticipated completion within 1 year of hire
Licensed or license-eligible as an LPCC in the state of Ohio
Post-licensure clinical practice

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

Earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision
Successful experience in teaching within the United States system of higher education at the graduate level
Successful experience using instructional technology within both face-to-face and online teaching (e.g. Canvas, Blackboard, Isidore, etc)
Successful experience as a clinical mental health practitioner in community mental health setting(s)
Successful experience with the scientist-practitioner model of training and practice
Successful experience employing active and inclusive learning strategies to foster and maintain student engagement
Experience working in a collaborative and/or interdisciplinary environments
Experience working with and/or teaching socially and culturally diverse communities
Experience advising and/or mentoring students
Experience providing supervision to counselor trainees
Experience recruiting individuals from historically underrepresented and marginalized groups
Current membership in professional organizations
Licensed professional clinical counselor with supervision designation (LPCC-S)
Proficiency in technology (e.g. Office Suite, Google Suite, AI, project management software, etc)
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Effective oral communication skills
Effective classroom management skills
Commitment to breadth of education including educating the whole person in the Marianist tradition and a commitment to social justice, inclusive excellence, and service to the community, university, and profession

Responsibilities

Teach graduate counseling courses on our Dayton and Columbus campuses (12 credits per term; fall, spring, & summer)
Work primarily from our main campus in Dayton, OH with one evening per week of teaching in Columbus (mileage provided)
Serve as Clinical Experience Coordinator (including but not limited to: site development, overseeing student placements, supervisor training, & clinical documentation)
Recruit, advise, and mentor graduate students
Serve as co-faculty advisor for Chi Sigma Iota chapters
Provide service to the program, department, university, community, and profession
Demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence
