About The Position

The University of Dayton Department of Counselor Education and Human Services is seeking applications for a full-time, 12-month, Assistant Clinical Faculty specializing in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. This position is within a CACREP-accredited M.S.Ed. program and offers opportunities for faculty engagement and growth through teaching, interprofessional collaboration, and curriculum, program, and community outreach development. The role involves teaching graduate counseling courses, serving as Clinical Experience Coordinator, recruiting and advising graduate students, serving as a co-faculty advisor for Chi Sigma Iota chapters, and providing service to the program, department, university, community, and profession. A commitment to inclusive excellence is expected. Summer teaching is a requirement for this 12-month position. Research is supported but not required. The University of Dayton's School of Education and Health Sciences offers a promotion pathway for clinical faculty.

Requirements

Completed doctoral program coursework in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program with anticipated completion within 1 year of hire
Licensed or license-eligible as an LPCC in the state of Ohio
Post-licensure clinical practice
Potential for excellence in teaching at the graduate level
Potential for excellence in advising and mentoring students
Potential for excellence in building and maintaining community partnerships
Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Nice To Haves

Earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision
Successful experience teaching within the United States system of higher education at the graduate level
Successful experience using instructional technology within both face-to-face and online teaching (e.g. Canvas, Blackboard, Isidore, etc)
Successful experience as a clinical mental health practitioner in community mental health setting(s)
Successful experience with the scientist-practitioner model of training and practice
Successful experience employing active and inclusive learning strategies to foster and maintain student engagement
Successful experience working in a collaborative and/or interdisciplinary environments
Successful experience working with and/or teaching socially and culturally diverse communities
Successful experience advising and/or mentoring students
Successful experience providing supervision to counselor trainees
Successful experience recruiting individuals from historically underrepresented and marginalized groups
Current membership in professional organizations
Licensed professional clinical counselor with supervision designation (LPCC-S)
Proficiency in technology (e.g. Office Suite, Google Suite, AI, project management software, etc)
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Effective oral communication skills
Effective classroom management skills
Commitment to breadth of education including educating the whole person in the Marianist tradition
Commitment to social justice, inclusive excellence, and service to the community, university, and profession

Responsibilities

Teach graduate counseling courses on our Dayton and Columbus campuses (12 credits per term; fall, spring, & summer)
Work primarily from our main campus in Dayton, OH with one evening per week of teaching in Columbus (mileage provided)
Serve as Clinical Experience Coordinator (including but not limited to: site development, overseeing student placements, supervisor training, & clinical documentation)
Recruit, advise, and mentor graduate students
Serve as co-faculty advisor for Chi Sigma Iota chapters
Provide service to the program, department, university, community, and profession
Demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence
