About The Position

The Assistant Chief Engineer oversees the day-to-day operation of the Engineering Department, which includes planning, directing, scheduling, performance management, room and property maintenance, and project implementation. This role is responsible for implementing, administering, and managing the Engineering Department’s programs and systems under the direction of the Chief Engineer. The Assistant Chief Engineer directly supervises Engineering activities and maintenance personnel, overseeing efficiency and productivity through a computerized maintenance management system, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, building codes, and regulatory agencies. They also implement and oversee property preventive maintenance programs, conduct quality control inspections, ensure timely completion of work orders, and compare actual results with planned work order reports.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least five years’ experience as a facility department manager at a major resort hotel and casino
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA General Industry Statutes and Regulations
  • Working knowledge of computer programs to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of HVAC Systems, Cooling Towers, Pump Systems, and Domestic Water Systems
  • At least five years’ experience in preparing and managing departmental budgets and forecasts
  • Valid driver's license
  • CPO Certification

  • Knowledge of Engineering Local 501 and Teamsters Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Experience in project management and contractor oversight
  • Nevada Class A/B UST Operator Training (Must acquire within 90 days of employment)
  • HVAC Certification
  • OSHA 30

Responsibilities

  • Implement, administer, and manage the Engineering Department’s programs and systems under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
  • Directly supervise Engineering activities and maintenance personnel as directed by the Chief Engineer, including standards of performance, training, and overall welfare.
  • Oversee the efficiency and productivity of the engineering department through the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, building codes, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Implement and oversee property preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ensure that all department functions are performed according to the highest standards.
  • Conduct regular quality control inspections.
  • Ensure completion of all work order requests in a timely manner.
  • Meet with Department liaisons to discuss work order priorities.
  • Review the Demand, Preventative Maintenance, and Planned Work Order reports to compare actual results with planned.
  • Foster a cooperative and harmonious working atmosphere conducive to maximum employee morale and productivity.
  • Responsible for hiring, scheduling, training, coaching, performance management, and disciplinary authority.
