We’re seeking an experienced, hands-on Assistant Chief Engineer to support the Chief Engineer in overseeing the daily operations of the resort’s Engineering Department. This leadership role helps ensure the property’s buildings, grounds, equipment, and essential systems remain safe, efficient, and guest-ready. You’ll lead and work alongside Engineering associates, coordinate maintenance priorities, and serve as the department leader in the Chief Engineer’s absence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous engineering, maintenance, or facilities leadership experience, preferably in a hotel or resort environment
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and life-safety systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to provide hands-on technical support and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Required certifications necessary to comply with applicable local and national codes
  • Ability to work on-site and meet the physical demands of the position, including walking, standing, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds as needed

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Engineer with overseeing daily Engineering operations and serve as department leader in their absence.
  • Help maintain the resort’s HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, water treatment, equipment, life-safety systems, buildings, grounds, and guest areas.
  • Coordinate inspections, preventative maintenance programs, and repair work orders to ensure timely completion and quality workmanship.
  • Lead, train, and coach Engineering associates while promoting compliance with OSHA requirements, company policies, safety procedures, and applicable codes.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance-related guest concerns while partnering with resort departments, vendors, and contractors.
  • Assist with controlling departmental expenses, managing tools and supplies, monitoring utility usage, and coordinating renovations, installations, and capital improvement projects.
