About The Position
The Assistant Chief Engineer manages activities within the Engineering department, ensuring departmental standards and objectives are implemented and maintained in equipment operation, staff management, and product quality to meet and exceed guest expectations. The role calls for hands-on skills in HVAC, plumbing, hotel maintenance, and management. The Assistant Chief Engineer works directly with the Complex Director of Engineering to train and learn all facets of a multi-building resort. The position is full-time and year-round at Kingston Resorts.
Requirements
- Ability to handle multiple functions.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Excellent communication and human-relations skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Knowledge of hotel maintenance, including HVAC, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and drywall.
- At least 2 years of maintenance or similar management experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct applicant screening and interviews for Engineering positions.
- Recommend hiring, advancement, discipline, and promotion to the Director of Engineering.
- Keep department spending within budgetary limits for line spending.
- Ensure departmental directives and standards are followed and maintained.
- Train, assign, and supervise staff.
- Ensure quality performance in staff assignments.
- Ensure building-code and quality standards at departmental and interdepartmental levels.
- Monitor equipment and special preventive-maintenance standards to ensure a quality product.
