About The Position

The Assistant Cage Manager assists the Cage Manager in the leadership, administration, and daily management of Cage operations. This position provides leadership and support to Cage Supervisors and employees while ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, asset protection, exceptional customer service, and adherence to company policies and procedures. The Assistant Cage Manager serves as a liaison between Cage Management, Casino Operations, and other departments and supports a professional work environment focused on accuracy, accountability, employee development, teamwork, and superior customer service.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years casino/cage, banking, or comparable financial-services experience including supervisory or management experience.
  • High School Diploma and /or equivalent experience.
  • A casino work permit from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Key Employee License from the Bureau of Gambling Control.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, coaching, training, and employee-development skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of Cage operations, cash handling, transaction controls, asset protection, and internal control procedures.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulatory, reporting, recordkeeping, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, exercise sound judgment, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to transaction accuracy and asset protection.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, interpersonal, and problem-resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume financial environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately and consistently enforce company policies and performance expectations.
  • Must possess an ability to work with minimal supervision and make educated ethical decisions as necessary.
  • Must be able to resolve conflicts and have effective communication skills with all levels of employees and be able to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to work independently, prepare detailed professional correspondence, memoranda, policies, procedures as well as regulations related to the employee’s duties.
  • A general knowledge of the Windows based computer operating systems is also required.

Nice To Haves

  • Casino Cage supervisor experience strongly preferred.
  • Additional education or professional training in business, finance, accounting, management, compliance, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Cage Manager in overseeing daily Cage operations, administration, staffing, scheduling, and departmental planning.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and support to Cage Supervisors and employees to ensure departmental standards and operational objectives are achieved.
  • Monitors operations and employee performance to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Works with Cage Supervisors to identify and resolve operational, employee, and customer-related issues and recommends appropriate courses of action to the Cage Manager.
  • Assists with departmental meetings, management communications, and implementation of new or revised policies and procedures.
  • Works Cage positions when necessary to support operations during staffing shortages, emergencies, special events, or periods of increased business volume.
  • Participates in interviewing and selecting candidates for positions within the Cage Department.
  • Coordinates new employee orientation, initial training, and ongoing employee development in cooperation with Cage Management, Human Resources, and company training resources.
  • Provides coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to Cage Supervisors and employees and promotes consistent application of departmental standards and expectations.
  • Assists the Cage Manager in ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, internal controls, currency transaction reporting, recordkeeping, and Cage operating procedures.
  • Oversees assigned administrative and compliance processes and performs designated functions when necessary.
  • Monitors Cage shortages, overages, variances, and other financial discrepancies to ensure appropriate investigation, documentation, resolution, and protection of company assets.
  • Assists with investigations and resolution of customer claims, transaction discrepancies, unclaimed funds, and other Cage-related matters.
  • Coordinates with Surveillance, Security, Compliance, Finance, and other departments when investigation or management review is required.
  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding customer financial information, employee matters, investigations, and other sensitive company information.
  • Ensures Cage areas remain safe, secure, organized, adequately supplied, and operationally ready.
  • Coordinates supplies, equipment maintenance, repairs, preventive maintenance, and Engineering or safety work orders and follows through to ensure timely completion.
  • Oversees the availability, control, and periodic changeover of safe-deposit boxes or other controlled customer storage equipment, as applicable.
  • Promotes professional, courteous, and efficient customer service and assists with escalated customer concerns and transaction disputes.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Cage Department, Casino Operations, and other departments to support effective communication and resolution of operational issues.
  • Engages with Marketing and other departments regarding promotional events and ensures Cage employees receive accurate and timely operational information.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of Cage policies, procedures, systems, internal controls, and operational requirements.
  • Exercises sound judgment and appropriate management discretion when addressing employee, customer, compliance, and operational matters.
  • Communicates significant operational, financial, compliance, staffing, or employee issues to the Cage Manager in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
