About The Position

Quincy High School is seeking an Assistant Boys Wrestling Coach to support the Head Coach in managing an interscholastic athletic program. The role focuses on developing student-athletes' skills, promoting competitive excellence, academic accountability, character development, and sportsmanship. The Assistant Coach will provide instruction, assist with organizing practices and competitions, supervise student-athletes, and represent the school professionally.

Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Must meet WIAA age requirements applicable to the position (19 years of age for Assistant Coach).
Demonstrated knowledge of the sport and ability to assist in teaching fundamental and advanced skills appropriate to the level of competition.
Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.
Valid current First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain prior to season start).
Completion of required WIAA coaching education and concussion training prior to season start.
Ability to perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies, district policies, and legal requirements.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate strong human relations and interpersonal skills.
Ability to meet punctuality and attendance expectations.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates knowledge of and assists in implementing all athletic policies and codes approved by the Quincy School District regarding Administrative, Student, Equipment, Facilities, and Program duties.
Demonstrates knowledge of the WIAA Handbook, including eligibility standards, coaching certifications, and sport-specific regulations.
Assists in planning and conducting safe and effective practices appropriate to the age and skill level of student-athletes.
Provides instruction in sport-specific skills, team strategies, and conditioning under the direction of the Head Coach.
Maintains appropriate supervision of student-athletes before, during, and after practices, contests, and travel.
Promotes sportsmanship, leadership development, accountability, and positive team culture.
Assists in monitoring student-athlete academic progress and supporting district eligibility standards.
Supports the Head Coach in maintaining discipline consistent with district policy.
Ensures compliance with concussion protocols, injury reporting procedures, and return-to-play guidelines.
Assists with equipment inventory, distribution, and collection.
Utilizes district-approved communication platforms to communicate effectively with students and parents as directed by the Head Coach.
Strives to improve professional skills by attending clinics, professional development opportunities, and required certification trainings.
Ensures compliance with Title IX, equity standards, and district non-discrimination policies.
Performs related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.
Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, or Superintendent.
