Balfour Beatty is seeking an Assistant BIM/VDC Manager to join our team in Dallas, TX. Assistant BIM/VDC Manager implements BIM, Technology, and related processes and serves as a primary resource to project teams during all phases of the project. The Assist BIM/VDC Manager is involved in project pursuits and developing BIM strategies for proposals. This role helps lead the development of models, and marketing materials. The Assist BIM/VDC Manager ensures project success through monitoring the progress of BIM workflows, serving as the liaison between Balfour Beatty, the client, end user, designers (architectural and engineering firms), and subcontractors. The top priority of the Senior BIM/VDC Specialist is ensuring that our team is meeting the client's needs and expectations for implementing BIM and technology. The Assistant BIM/VDC Manager is involved in training new hires, and project teammates on BIM tools to ensure maximum benefits, and building software libraries. The Assistant BIM/VDC Manager is also responsible for providing support to the BIM Manager in the management, direction, and implementation of our BIM Process on projects. The Assistant BIM/VDC Manager has the responsibility to accurately and fully inform the BIM/VDC Manager of each pursuit and project’s overall BIM efforts, including potential liabilities and/or concerns with designers, subcontractors, and other model stakeholders.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, construction technology, information technology, or related industry.
Minimum of five years’ experience in the design, construction, or consulting industry; operations experience preferred but not required.
A strong understanding of design and construction processes, construction tools & equipment, and project management systems.
A strong understanding of construction technology platforms, processes, and workflows.
A strong desire/passion to remain current and informed on advancements in construction-related technology.
A strong attention to detail, organization skills, controlled sense of urgency, and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
Must possess effective communication/interpersonal skills and be confident in his/her ability to develop and manage the entire technology process; must have poise, polish, and effective presentation skills.
Ability to travel regularly to other offices and project sites as needed.
Demonstrate levels of proficiency or knowledge in the software including but not limited to Navisworks Manage, Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360Civil 3D, Sketch-up, Infraworks, Lumion, Blue Beam, Adobe Creative Suite, , and other related software.
Understand building systems, construction methods, installation procedures and sequencing.
Know the basic scheduling concepts, including critical path, logic between activities, etc.
Know how to use and set up laser scanning, 360 camera, and drone.
Create automation tools to improve work efficiency by using Dynamo, Power BI, etc.
Develop and maintain Revit library for parametric design, and logistics items.
Maintain the BIM knowledge database, lessons learned, and techniques and distribute knowledge.
Training new hires, and project teammates on BIM tools to ensure maximum benefits.
Create and update documentation of company BIM standards, procedures, and best practices.
Create and update company BIM templates, families, details, calculations, training plans, and other customizations.
Assist in piloting (identifying) new technologies and implementing adopted technologies such as drones, VR, AR, Drones, 360 cameras, laser scanning, etc.
Proactively pursues personal development to remain proficient in the latest BIM technologies and programs.

Responsibilities

Create required 2D & 3D proposal/presentation content to demonstrate the company’s ability with technology and tools.
Document project experience, including project information, coordination key items, screenshots, benefits, and lessons learned.
Perform external presentations including job pursuit interviews and conferences to proactively seek new business opportunities through relationships.
Develop building core and shells, underground utilities, MEP systems, supplement components including ZOI and clearance and site conditions quickly in Revit, or SketchUp in preparation for pursuits or coordination.
Create project-specific BIM Execution plans and lead the BIM implementation as defined by the plan (under the support of the assigned BIM/VDC Manager).
Manage project file sharing process.
Develop project-specific coordination schedules with the assistance of the project superintendent.
Create and Manage a master composite model with associated clash and viewpoint reports.
Run Clash Detection and hold subcontractors accountable for model updates.
Take and distribute BIM Meeting minutes and reports.
Maintain and collect As-built Models.
Perform value engineering to find potential project savings.
Proactively train project team personnel on skills and processes required to carry out designated workflows and manage the tools and processes required to support them.
Work with the project team to assess project requirements, unique challenges, and team capabilities to determine appropriate BIM and technology to be utilized.
Understand the estimating team’s work breakdown structure, classification, and quantity takeoff tools, and assist with model-based quantity takeoff (4D).
Prepare 4D animations for schedule analysis and high-quality rendered images used for use in communicating construction sequences or various building conditions.
Register and process the point cloud, and put the reality capture into the appropriate platform for coordination, installation quality control, and documentation.
Develops Facility Management turnover for building operation and facility maintenance.
Create automation tools to improve work efficiency by using Dynamo, Power BI, etc.
Develop and maintain Revit library for parametric design, and logistics items.
Maintain the BIM knowledge database, lessons learned, and techniques and distribute knowledge.
Training new hires, and project teammates on BIM tools to ensure maximum benefits.
Create and update documentation of company BIM standards, procedures, and best practices.
Create and update company BIM templates, families, details, calculations, training plans, and other customizations.
Assist in piloting (identifying) new technologies and implementing adopted technologies such as drones, VR, AR, Drones, 360 cameras, laser scanning, etc.

Understand the difference between project delivery methods and contract types, and how it’s impacting the bid, design, and coordination.

Understand the process of RFI, ASI, CCD, submittals, change orders, and other administrative documents.
