About The Position

Penn State Altoona is currently accepting applications for a part-time Assistant Baseball Coach. This position reports to the head coach and is responsible for assisting in the management of all aspects of the baseball program, with an emphasis on working with the pitchers. Penn State Altoona is a member of the NCAA Division III and the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC).

Requirements

• Required travel during the spring will include all away games, and the yearly spring trip to Florida during the time frame of March 7 to March 15, or equivalent dates of Penn State’s spring break.
• Must possess a commitment to high academic standards and the NCAA Division III philosophy.
• May require the ability to work in an outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
• Must be well versed in the sport.
• 1-2 years of previous coaching experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must complete a motor vehicle records check.
• Must obtain PA State Police Criminal Background Check.
• Must obtain PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form.
• Must obtain Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

Responsibilities

• Serving as an assistant coach in a competitive NCAA Division III baseball program.
• Assisting in the coaching of the pitching staff.
• Recruiting.
• Organizing and planning practices.
• Developing game strategies.
• Throwing batting practice.
• Hitting fungos.
• Performing other daily practice activities.
