About The Position

The National, a luxury hotel in Oklahoma City located in the historic First National Center, is seeking an Assistant Banquet Manager. This role involves assisting with the planning and execution of various events, ensuring event spaces are set correctly, overseeing event flow, and serving as a Manager on Duty. The position requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences and supporting the banquet team.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of banquet or event management experience in a hotel, resort, catering, or upscale hospitality environment required.
  • Strong knowledge of banquet operations, food and beverage service, and event execution.
  • Strong leadership and team-development skills.

  • Ability to coach, motivate, and hold team members accountable.

  • Ability to assist with event setup and breakdown, including moving banquet equipment and furniture as needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing event timelines, guest needs, and operational priorities.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure during high-volume events.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts based on event schedules.
  • Ability to safely handle and work around food, beverages, banquet equipment, carts, tables, chairs, and other event materials.
  • Ability to maintain a polished, professional appearance and adhere to all grooming and uniform standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience working with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event diagrams preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the planning and execution of meetings, weddings, private events, and catered functions.
  • Ensuring event spaces are accurately set according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), diagrams, and brand standards.
  • Overseeing event flow, timing, and service delivery from setup through breakdown.
  • Serving as a Manager on Duty during assigned events and confidently addressing guest needs in real time.
  • Supporting the hiring, training, coaching, and development of Banquet Curators.
  • Leading pre-shift meetings to communicate event details, service expectations, timing, and special requests.
  • Coaching Curators in the moment and holding the team accountable to Coury Hospitality standards and behaviors.
  • Creating a positive, collaborative, and high-energy environment where Curators feel supported and set up for success.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, event planners, vendors, and internal partners.
  • Anticipating guest needs and ensuring every detail of an event is executed with care and precision.
  • Communicating closely with Culinary and Events teams to ensure food and beverage service runs smoothly.
  • Assisting with scheduling based on business needs, event volume, and labor targets.
  • Supporting payroll, inventory, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Reviewing BEOs and ensuring important event information is accurately communicated to the appropriate departments.
  • Maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, and sanitation requirements.
  • Jumping in alongside the team when needed and leading by example throughout every event.
