About The Position

The National is hiring for an Assistant Banquet Manager. This role involves assisting with the planning and execution of meetings, weddings, private events, and catered functions. The Assistant Banquet Manager will ensure event spaces are accurately set according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), diagrams, and brand standards, while overseeing event flow, timing, and service delivery from setup through breakdown. This position also serves as a Manager on Duty during assigned events, confidently addressing guest needs in real time, and supporting the hiring, training, coaching, and development of Banquet Curators. Key aspects include leading pre-shift meetings, coaching team members, creating a positive and collaborative environment, building strong relationships with clients and internal partners, anticipating guest needs, and ensuring smooth communication with Culinary and Events teams. The role also involves assisting with scheduling, payroll, inventory, and cost-control initiatives, reviewing BEOs, and maintaining compliance with company policies, safety, and sanitation standards. Leading by example and jumping in alongside the team when needed is crucial.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of banquet or event management experience in a hotel, resort, catering, or upscale hospitality environment required.
  • Strong knowledge of banquet operations, food and beverage service, and event execution.
  • Strong leadership and team-development skills.

  • Ability to coach, motivate, and hold team members accountable.

  • Ability to assist with event setup and breakdown, including moving banquet equipment and furniture as needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing event timelines, guest needs, and operational priorities.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure during high-volume events.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts based on event schedules.
  • Ability to safely handle and work around food, beverages, banquet equipment, carts, tables, chairs, and other event materials.
  • Ability to maintain a polished, professional appearance and adhere to all grooming and uniform standards.
