About The Position

Insomnia Cookies is seeking a full-time hourly Assistant Bakery Operations Manager (ABOM) to join their team. The ABOM will work alongside the Bakery Operations Manager (BOM) to build and train a team, create guest experiences, and ensure the bakery runs efficiently. This role involves coaching, developing staff, managing inventory, maintaining quality and cleanliness, and stepping up to lead when the BOM is absent. It is an opportunity for individuals to learn the business, grow as leaders, and develop the skills needed to eventually manage an Insomnia bakery.

Requirements

• 1+ year of leadership experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality, or another customer-focused environment.
• Experience coaching, motivating, and developing hourly team members.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• A hands-on leadership style and willingness to jump into any bakery role when needed.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple operational priorities.
• Passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences and building great teams.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to obtain any required food safety certifications applicable to the location.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
• At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory role within a restaurant or retail store
• Prior experience conducting in-person interviews of hourly support staff
• Prior Point of Sale (POS) systems experience
• Ability to utilize MS Office, Word and our Applicant Tracking System
• Ability to work a 4-5 day work week and 1-2 mid-to-late shifts throughout the latter part of the week (Thurs- Sun)
• Must be 18 years of age or older and have legal eligibility for employment in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the BOM to lead day-to-day bakery operations and deliver an exceptional guest experience.
• Lead the bakery independently when the BOM is away, keeping the team focused and operations running smoothly.
• Coach, motivate, and develop Shift Leaders and Cookie Crew members through real-time feedback, recognition, and support.
• Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training to build a strong, fully staffed team.
• Help create schedules and manage labor to meet the needs of the bakery and the business.
• Support ordering, inventory management, product rotation, and shrink control.
• Maintain high standards for product quality, food safety, cleanliness, speed of service, and overall bakery execution.
• Complete required operational and administrative tasks accurately and on time.
• Identify opportunities to improve bakery performance and partner with the BOM and Area leadership to put solutions into action.
• Help create a culture where team members know what’s expected, feel supported, and are accountable for delivering their best.
• Jump in wherever needed—from serving guests and baking cookies to supporting the team during our busiest hours.
• Perform as Manager-on-Duty during scheduled shifts when Store Ops Manager (GM) is not present.
• Supervise, train and coach 2-5 team members engaged in both cookie sales and customer deliveries.
• Lead new hourly staff onboarding and initial training.
• Conduct initial interviews for potential new hires (Cookie Crew, Shift Leaders and Delivery Drivers) in the manager’s absence.
• Support Store Ops Manager with ordering, inventory control and scheduling.
• Hold staff accountable to Insomnia Cookies’ standards (baking, uniform, company policies, etc.).
• Upselling and overall customer service excellence - Ensuring all team members are also upselling and providing the best customer service.
