About The Position

The Assistant Bakery Manager helps develop the skills, knowledge, and expertise needed to become a successful Bakery Department Manager. The role supervises bakery department operations and helps ensure that Lowes Foods guest-service standards, merchandising programs, and operating guidelines are maintained. The Assistant Bakery Manager assumes the Department Manager’s duties in their absence.

Requirements

Ability to work well with others.
Ability to lift 25 pounds consistently and 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to read and understand information and directions.
Knowledge of bakery operations.
Ability to supervise people, including training and development.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
Effective communication, guest-service, and selling skills.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
Ability to communicate effectively with the Store Manager and Merchandiser.
Ability to work well with computers.

Responsibilities

Ensure bakery department staff provide guests with polite, friendly service.
Achieve the department’s budgeted sales, shrink, and profit goals.
Maintain appropriate inventory and supplies.
Operate the department in accordance with merchandising and operational guidelines and programs.
Ensure products meet Lowes Foods quality standards.
Maintain department sanitation and safety according to Lowes Foods standards.
Provide guidance, orientation, training, and feedback to help bakery department hosts meet performance standards.
Prepare products, receive and order goods, stock merchandise, and serve guests as needed to meet standards.
Maintain the department’s labor budget and scheduling standards.
Make public-address announcements.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Assume the Department Manager’s duties in their absence.
