Under limited supervision, performs legal work relating to allegations of Medicaid Recipient fraud by the beneficiary. Primarily assigned to the Prosecution Section to prosecute cases involving Medicaid fraud and abuse committed by beneficiaries (recipients). Reviews work product and coordinates activities of investigators with Chief Investigator and other staff for purposes of providing legal counsel and advice within the Medicaid Recipient Fraud Unit as directed by the supervisor. Prepares all legal memoranda, pleadings, and briefs. Appears in court and all legal proceedings on assigned cases or as assigned by supervisors at all stages of prosecution. Provides legal advice to assigned public agencies and serves as contact counsel on assigned subject matters. May assist other law enforcement agencies with legal advice on criminal investigations involving Medicaid fraud recipients. Consults with appropriate supervisors on all legal and administrative matters. Works closely with SC Department of Health and Human Services Division of Program Integrity. Performs other related assigned job duties as directed by supervisor, Deputy and Chief Deputy Attorney General.
