About The Position

The Assistant Athletics Coach II & Pitching Coach, Softball assists with all activities related to the Softball program including recruitment, player development, monitoring academic performance, discipline, and social development. This position serves as the program's pitching coach, leading bullpen operations and providing instruction, skill development, and individualized training plans for pitchers to maximize performance and competitive success. Requirements

  • Five years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field and one year of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Experience coaching softball pitchers at the collegiate, high school, or elite club level, including instruction, skill development, and bullpen management.
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain within three months of employment.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout the country.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of full-time professional coaching experience in a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I institution.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
  • Prepares and conducts practice sessions.
  • Teaches individual and group game skills and techniques with an emphasis on pitching, leads bullpen operations, and develops and implements individualized pitching development plans tailored to each student-athlete's strengths, goals, and areas for growth.
  • Assists with game strategy and position assignments, including pitching strategy, game preparation, pitcher usage, and opponent scouting.
  • Coordinates team travel arrangements and logistics.
  • Monitors academic progress and status of team members, implementing action plans when needed.
  • Monitors and maintains discipline and conduct of athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program.
  • Promote the athletic program through community events, public speaking, fundraising, and marketing.
  • Complies with all University and ASUN Conference regulations, as well as all NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Remains current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University and ASUN Conference rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations and participation in the annual NCAA continuing education programs including passing the NCAA certification test, if applicable.
  • Travels throughout the country and internationally as assigned.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
