About The Position

Saint Louis University is seeking an Assistant Coach to assist with the management of a competitive NCAA Division I athletic program. This role involves supporting the head coach in various aspects of the program, including conditioning, practices, recruiting, travel arrangements, and student managers. The Assistant Coach will play a key role in player development and ensuring the academic progress of student-athletes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Two years of playing/coaching experience on the high school, collegiate, or professional level
• Knowledge of a specific sport's concepts/strategies and NCAA rules and regulations
• Knowledge of physical conditioning techniques and weight training
• Knowledge of basic statistics
• Recruiting skills
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Interpersonal/human relations skills
• Organizational/planning skills
• Leadership and motivational skills
• Ability to assess athletic talent
• Ability to serve as a positive role model

Responsibilities

• Assists head coach in running team practices, teaching offensive and defensive concepts, overseeing drills, and providing instruction.
• Assists in player development and remains informed on student-athlete academic progress.
• Performs recruiting activities, including contacting prospective student-athletes, scouting games, assessing skills, and reviewing game films.
• Makes travel arrangements for the team and coaching staff for away games, including scheduling, making reservations, and providing information to visiting coaches.
• Oversees the activities of student managers and ensures assigned duties are completed.
• Assists in overseeing the conditioning and weight training program, ensuring student-athletes' progress and adherence.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
