Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Collegiate playing experience at a competitive level and/or softball coaching experience.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy.
  • Current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide teaching and instruction to student-athletes.
  • Perform duties in all areas of the program at the direction of the head coach, athletic director or sport supervisor.
  • Develop, in conjunction with the head coach, planning of practice sessions and competitive coaching situations.
  • Organize and implement a focused and productive player development plan(s).
  • Support cultivating a strong competitive recruit database, help manage and keep up to date filtering of recruiting software.
  • Assess and evaluate talent and recruitment of athletes into the program; includes contact by telephone and mail; off campus evaluations; on campus visits.
  • Support team travel arrangements.
  • Develop scouting reports and pre-competition evaluations of opponents.
  • Work in conjunction with the head coach to implement fund raising opportunities on a yearly basis.
  • Support all Ball State softball camps and clinics.
  • Mentor graduate assistant and/or volunteer assistant coaches.
  • Show commitment to and responsibility for adherence to all rules and regulations of Ball State University, the Mid-American Conference, and the NCAA; pass the NCAA certification examination on an annual basis.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
