The purpose of this position is to provide care for the Howard University student-athlete in the following areas: prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses, evaluation of athletic injuries, treatment of athletic injuries, providing education and counseling to student-athletes about their injury/illness. This role also establishes commitments to compliance of rules and keeps all student athletes informed about National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) conference and University eligibility requirements, new legislation, academic standards, and University code of conduct. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will coordinate and maintain records for all athletic physical examinations for all student-athletes and uphold Howard University Sports Medicine Policy & Procedures for athletes. This position requires maintaining appropriate communication with the Senior Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine, student-athletes, coaches, and physicians, as well as attending meetings within the Department of Athletics. An athletic calendar of events for team practice, games, and other schedule activities will be maintained.
