About The Position

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist the Head Athletic Trainer in all aspects of the health care of the intercollegiate student-athletes for the Stevenson University Athletic department. Reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist with organizational and administrative duties as assigned, as well as supervise student workers in the Athletic Training room. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will also assist in the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries incurred by the intercollegiate student-athletes at Stevenson University.

  • Must be able to assist with inventory.
  • Must be able to organize pre-participation physicals and screenings.
  • Must be able to handle secondary insurance claims.
  • Must be able to maintain athletic training supplies and equipment.
  • Must be able to develop, implement, and enforce athletic training policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to serve on committees.
  • Must be able to work within Arms and Teamworks Hub software.
  • Must be able to work with Institutional Advancement for fundraising.

Responsibilities

  • Work in cooperation with the Head Athletic Trainer and Associate/Assistant Athletic Trainers in all aspects of the health care of the student-athletes, such as evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries incurred by the intercollegiate student-athletes.
  • Manage all athletic training room functions in the absence of the Head Athletic Trainer, Associate Athletic Trainers, and Team Physician
  • Maintain work schedule in the athletic training room in cooperation with and as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Attend practices and all assigned home athletic events as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer
  • Travel as needed with assigned intercollegiate athletic teams and/or as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Administer proper first aid to student-athletes on the field and in the athletic training room.
  • Assist the Head Athletic Trainer and Assistant Athletic Trainers in the organizational and administrative duties of the athletic training room.
  • Coordination of on- and off-campus clinics/physicians
  • Medical record keeping utilizing our EMR system.
  • Supervision of student staff and athletic training student interns
  • Assist with inventory.
  • Organize pre-participation physicals and screenings for student-athletes.
  • Treatment and rehabilitation of student-athletes
  • Pre-season preparation and practices
  • Handling of secondary insurance claims
  • Maintenance of all athletic training supplies and equipment
  • Development, implementation, and enforcement of athletic training policies and procedures under the guidance of the Head Athletic Trainer
  • Other duties deemed necessary by the Head Athletic Trainer
  • Serve on committees as needed.
  • Work within the Arms and Teamworks Hub software to communicate schedules and manage rosters/eligibility status while working with the compliance team.
  • Work with Institutional Advancement to aid in fundraising initiatives and to promote the Campaign for Mustang Athletics on an annual basis.
