About The Position

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will join a collaborative department dedicated to supporting both colleagues and the overall well-being of student athletes. This role provides comprehensive athletic training services, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation, for student-athletes competing across 20 sports at an NCAA Division II institution. This is a newly added position, expanding the Athletic Training Department to six full-time athletic trainers. This position is located on Post University's main campus in Waterbury, CT.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree from a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training education program
• BOC certification
• Connecticut Athletic Trainer Licensed, or eligible
• Current CPR/AED certification

• Strength and Conditioning experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide athletic training services for all student-athletes at Post University
• Preparation and coverage of practices, home games, and occasional away games.
• Responsible for injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, and organization and administration under the athletic training scope of practice.
• Assist with managing the daily operations of the athletic training room, including keeping updated medical records and PPE.
• Able to perform physical requirements of the job - lifting, kneeling, sitting, squatting, and standing for long hours.
• Ability to consult with Team Physician, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, and other health care professionals for referrals and treatment plans.
• Assist in scheduling doctor appointments and processing insurance claims for athletic-related instances.
• Sports coverage will include 2-3 primary teams and will be determined by the Head Athletic Trainer.
• Weekends, evenings, holiday hours, and some travel are required.
